Many cardholders use
Amazon and Barnes & Noble for book purchases. While these are good, reputable
vendors, and very convenient, they may not always be the best buy. With that
in mind, we would like to share some useful information.
www.booksprice.com
www.bookfinder.com
www.addall.com
These are usually the best sites to start with when shopping for books. They
are meta-searches for books (i.e. they look in many places all at once). They
will also allow you to compare prices for both new and used books from Amazon,
Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Powell's, and many other new and used book
dealers.
www.bookcloseouts.com
www.bargainbookstores.com
These sites are book liquidators dealing primarily in remainders. Remainders
will usually have a mark across the spine, or sometimes a hole punched in the
front or back cover, neither of which affects readability. These are especially
helpful with classic titles, and books published within the past 1-3 years.
Prices vary, but on average, they are 60% to 80% off retail price.
www.half.com
www.walmart.com
www.overstock.com
These are sites that carry a large stock of books at discounted prices, but
which sometimes miss the meta-search functions.

These are specialty book sites that may be helpful.

These sites are especially helpful with used, out-of-print, antiquarian, or
collectable books
The websites mentioned here are in no particular order. Also, when considering book purchases, do not overlook the Duquesne Bookstore and your faculty/staff discount.
